How to operate the filter purifier

The operation method of mechanical filter purifier (usually refers to multi-media filter) mainly includes core steps such as operation, backwashing, positive washing and drainage. The operation process can vary slightly depending on whether the equipment is controlled manually or fully automatically, but the basic principles are the same.

Procedure
Preparation before booting
Check whether the filter body, valves, instruments and pipelines are intact to ensure that there is no leakage.
Confirm that the raw water pump, electrical equipment, etc. are in normal condition.
Close all discharge valves, backwash valves, and positive flush valves, leaving only the inlet and outlet valves closed.
Open the vent valve and close the vent valve immediately after water flows out and there are no bubbles.

Start after initial operation or prolonged downtime
Exhaust and flushing: After first use or long-term outage, exhaust and rinse are required to remove the internal air and clean the filter material.

Open the water inlet valve and exhaust valve, and close it after the exhaust valve comes out.

Open the positive flush discharge valve and run until the turbidity of the effluent ≤ 2 mg/L, and this step does not need to be repeated in subsequent runs

normal water production operation
Open the inlet valve and outlet valve to start the raw water pump.
The water flow passes through the filter layer (such as anthracite, quartz sand, gravel, etc.) from top to bottom, the suspended solids are intercepted, and the effluent reaches the preset turbidity standard (usually ≤ 3 mg/L) The operating time or water production is determined according to the water quality and design parameters, generally 12–24 hours

Backwash (clean the filter layer).
When the turbidity of the effluent increases or the pressure difference increases, backwashing is required to loosen and wash away the trapped impurities.

Close the water inlet and outlet valves, and open the backwash valve and backwash drain valve.

The water flow flows through the filter layer from bottom to top, the flow rate is controlled at about 30 m/h (it is advisable not to run the material), and the backwashing time is not less than 20 minutes, or until the turbidity of the drain is < 3 mg/L

During the backwashing process, the drainage situation should be observed to ensure that there is no loss of filter material. Wash (restore filtration capacity).

After the backwash is finished, close the backwash valve and the backwash drain valve.
Open the inlet valve and the flush discharge valve, and rinse the filter layer with clean water for no less than 30 minutes until the turbidity of the outlet water ≤ 3 mg/L

Drainage (before shutdown).
Before shutting down, open the exhaust valve and the positive wash discharge valve to drain the accumulated water in the filter to about 200 mm above the filter material layer to prevent the filter media from drying out or compacting
